Hasan Minhaj Adds Design to Resume

Hasan Minhaj ’07 created and designed a limited-edition collection of men’s shoes for fashion brand Cole Haan. The collaboration was announced this week.

Cole Haan x Hasan Minhaj features men’s hiker and sneaker styles. The first is available now, and the second will be released in December.

In a video to promote the new collection, Minhaj returns to the Davis area to trace his roots in comedy. A big sneaker fan, Minhaj recounts how he had to buy dress shoes when he landed an audition for Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” in 2014. “They tell the story of all the things I’ve been able to do,” he said.

Each shoe includes a nod to Minhaj’s Urdu heritage, with the words “Live” and “Survive” inscribed on the footwear tongues, as well as the date that audition.

“I wanted to pay tribute to that in the shoes,” added Minhaj.

Minhaj hosted Netflix’s political talk show “Patriot Act” for six seasons. According to reports, he just landed a recurring role in the second season of “The Morning Show,” an Apple TV+ drama also starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.
