Radical Revelry

The Whole Earth Festival celebrated its 50th event this year, bringing music, arts and crafts, organic food, and general good vibes to UC Davis. Art history professor José Argüelles started it with students in 1970 to teach about activism, wellness and the environment. The festival was and still is headquartered in the Karma Dome (seen here in 1980) set up on the Quad. Over the years the event has evolved, but also sticks to its roots encouraging sustainability and free thinking.
