The university’s officially licensed beer has a new look and a new name: Gunrock American Lager.

The light-bodied beer, brewed by Sudwerk Brewing Co. of Davis, was released in small batches in fall 2017. The recipe has since been tweaked and “dialed in,” Sudwerk co-owner and operations manager Trent Yackzan said.

Now it’s ready for a wider release, and was made available in 12-ounce cans in August.

Sudwerk’s Dock Store in Davis will continue to sell the cans, and the beer is also available at Nugget Markets in Yolo County, the Davis Food Co-op and other locations in town. It has also been sold at this season’s UC Davis football games and is scheduled to be sold at basketball games.

Merchandise like hats, T-shirts and pint glasses are available at UC Davis Stores.
